Be the Light Media
Be the Light Media
In 2001, I Shine, Inc was formed to originally self-publish I Love You More. When we partnered with Sourcebooks in 2007 that dissolved as a publishing company, and my next two books were released, You Are a Gift to the World in 2011, and I’ll Hug You More in 2017. Nearly twenty years later, I felt 2020 scream out for my newest book, No Matter What, I Love You (NMWILY). Be the Light Media launched to publish this message. I originally wrote NMWILY at the very end of 2010, my editor at the time loved it, brought it to an acquisitions meeting in January, it was accepted, and in the midst of receiving a contract she quit, and my new editor opted to pass. I asked him every so often about the book, but there was never any interest. Twenty Twenty came with the pandemic, politics, racial and social issues and I knew it was time for this book! Wanting the message in the world as soon as possible, brought us back to self-publishing.
I called children’s champion, and award winning author and illustrator, Trevor Romain, someone I’ve always wanted to work with, who immediately and graciously came on board to illustrate. He offered his new paint-ography style, which uses real pictures of children from around the world, including some from the Botshibelo Children’s Community/Orphanage in South Africa that Trevor helps to support. WOW— it has been an undertaking getting the photos and coordinating everything, but it is coming along epically! We ended up with a brilliant designer, James Donaldson, working on the background for the illustrations. We had ambitious goals of getting the book in the world immediately, but took a deep breath and realized “right vs. rushed” was the way to go. My coach began throwing around dates and May 1st came up, realizing its Global Love Day, we found the perfect release date. We did a Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign, and gratefully in the midst of a pandemic, raised over $12,000 towards the design, publishing and printing of the book. I forgot what a large investment this can be to do right, and we’re still a ways from what we need to produce the book! There are some cool opportunities — including having a picture of YOU and/or your loved ones on a page in the book. You can also sponsor a school visit, donate books or receive signed copies of Laura’s Love Library — for details send an email to team@LauraDuksta.com Thank YOU!!

Even MORE info about the new book….
My new book, No Matter What, I Love You - You Are My Sister, You Are My Brother, illustrates how love transcends everything, no matter what the circumstance. It shares messages of unconditional love, kindness and acceptance, encouraging children and adults alike to come together amid a world of uncertainty and divisiveness.
I'm a big believer that LOVE is the truth of who we are. Beyond politics, religion, race, nationality and finances, LOVE elevates and unites all of us! Now more than ever, we want our children to know how truly loved they are no matter what is going on in their lives or in the world around them.
I want you to know this, too—and this powerful book helps to accomplish all of this and more. We need your support to share this timely and timeless story with children across the world! Please consider securing your advanced copies and donating as we raise funds to help offset the printing and publishing costs of this book.
Can a Book Change the World?
Can a book change the world? Well, maybe not a book. But we know what can...LOVE!
No Matter What, I Love You - You Are My Sister, You Are My Brother affirms the presence of light, love, goodness and humanity within every child and adult. The book touches on topics children are confronted with on the news or in person, including race, nationality, faith, culture, wealth, success, politics and gender, empowering readers to embrace their unique attributes and share their inner light with everyone around them.
I am thrilled and honored to be partnering with best-selling author and illustrator Trevor Romain, who has created a series of heartfelt and moving illustrations for the book, inspired by photos and stories from children from around the world. For more than 30 years, as a children’s champion and advocate, he’s shared his motivational and unique self-help messages with millions.
In addition to developing programming for PBS about young people and the challenges they face, Trevor has traveled the world with the USO to visit and inspire military children, as well as terminally ill children in hospitals nationwide. He’ss written more than 50 books and his works have been published in 22 different languages. Please follow him on social media for a big dose of inspiration.
Trevor is based in Austin, TX these days, but originally from South Africa. Typically he spends the month of December at the Botshebelo Orphanage and Community. This is where he took several of the pictures of the children featured in the book. A portion of the proceeds from this book will be benefiting the incredible work being done there. You can find out more and donate at www.angel-strong.org.
Some of the illustrations have their own fun and epic stories behind them. Visit the Ambassadors of Love page here on the website to learn more about them, and how YOU too can Be the Light by sharing your story of being and Ambassador of Love!
Together Let’s Declare 2021 The Year of Love
We have all felt the fear, divisiveness, stress, trauma and tragedy of 2020, with people praying that this year just hurries up and comes to an end. The problem with this, is that we have a false sense that at the stroke of midnight, on December 31st, everything is somehow going to be different... the truth is, nothing's going to change unless we do! It’s up to US to CHOOSE LOVE!
As Albert Einstein shared, “No problem can be solved from the same level of consciousness that created it.” That's what we're aiming to do with this book—help parents, children, teachers and leaders tune in to the higher frequency of LOVE—the only thing that can truly erase the fear that is plaguing too many of our hearts and minds. Together, let's declare 2021 The Year of Love!
Take action by reading this book with your loved ones and sharing it with your communities and classrooms. The choice is ours: LOVE or FEAR! Fear has us caught up in the stress and struggle of politics, unrest and the global pandemic, but in LOVE’S presence, fear dissolves and we can begin to heal and transform, on an individual, familial, national and global level. We can also help dissipate and dissolve the fear that the Global Pandemic has conjured up, by creating our own Global Phenomena of Love!
